Pet safety tips and animal help in Canada and the US
An animal is hurt or in danger, and you need someone to call. Pick your province, territory or state. You get a list of organizations, each checked against its own website, with the day we checked it. It is free.
How we check listed organizations
- Each listing comes from the organization's own website, or another official source, and every card shows the day we last checked it, so you can see for yourself how fresh it is.
- The services on a card are the words we found on that website. They are not a full list. Call before you go.
- Donate buttons open the organization's own page. We match every US recipient to the IRS list of tax-exempt organizations. A group we can't check yet gets no button.
- No listed organization runs or endorses this site.

- 4 October: World Animal Day
- 13 October: International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. Set by the United Nations. It has been held since 1989.
- 16 October: National Feral Cat Day. Led by Alley Cat Allies.
- 29 October: National Cat Day. Colleen Paige started it in 2005 to show how many cats need rescue each year, and to celebrate the cats we live with.

Questions about this site
Is this the old Pet Safe Coalition?
No. Its archived website says the Long Island volunteer group that used this name sheltered pets through Hurricanes Irene and Sandy. Its program became part of the Nassau County SPCA around 2015. Read what happened to it, or browse its old pages in historical content.

No. Pet Safe Coalition lists organizations that help animals. It does not take donations or run adoptions. Give straight to the organization you choose.
